IRIS Retiring July 5, 2023

The Center will officially retire IRIS on July 5, 2023, replacing it with NEMO for our instrument reservation and billing system. For all active users:

  1. If you are a current user with active projects in IRIS that do not expire on July 31, 2023, please log into NEMO at nemo.nano.upenn.edu. If you have issues logging into the system, please use this form.
  2. After you log into NEMO, complete the tutorial on rules and expectations if you see this banner by clicking it:
  3. Check your active projects.
    • Start by clicking the View My Usage icon:
    • Then click the Project dropdown (as highlighted in the red rectangle below) to see your listed project(s). If you don’t see your project, it means your project in IRIS expires on July 31, 2023. Please use this form to update your project information. You should not see any usage activity before July 5, 2023.
  4. Check your tool qualifications (a.k.a. certificates in IRIS).
    • Start by clicking the Calendar icon:
    • In the calendar, click the Expand all categories button to see all tools and then click the Only show qualified tools button  to see the tools you are qualified to use below these controls. If you are missing tools in your list, please use this form to report your missing tools. You should not see any reservations on the calendar. No reservations in IRIS will be migrated to NEMO.
  5. Book tool reservations on and after July 5, using NEMO at nemo.nano.upenn.edu—any tool reservations made in IRIS on or after July 5 will NOT be honored. Tool interlocks via NEMO will be enabled on July 5, 2023. You must use IRIS through July 4 to toggle tools on/off. Again, interlocks through NEMO are disabled until July 5. We kindly ask that you refrain from logging into tools with NEMO until July 5, as it will not work. Booking tools in NEMO should be intuitive using the new calendar.
  6. Tool Training and Stockroom Requests in NEMO will be fulfilled beginning the week of July 10, 2023. Feel free to interact with these new features; however, if you find them non-functional, it is because they are under test by our team.
