Property Measurement Facility

The Property Measurement Facility provides local and external users state-of-the-art measurement capabilities in magnetometry, optics, electrical and thermal transport, and heat capacity serving as a focal point for magnetic, optical and electronic studies.

The facility houses two Quantum Design Physical Property Measurement Systems (PPMS), a Quantum Design MPMS SQUID Magnetometer, several spectrometers including a Roper/Acton TriVista Triple Spectrometer, Princeton Instruments Silicon and InGaAs cooled array detectors, assorted electronics, and several home-built cryogenic inserts. Researchers can measure properties over a wide range of temperatures (2K to 800 K), and magnetic fields (up to 9 Tesla). The instruments are designed for ease of use and continuous operation.  The Singh Center provides a stable low noise environment for magnetic measurements and additional space for expanding optical applications.
