The Cleanroom Hands-on Integrated Process in Semiconductors (CHIPS) Experience Program is an immersive and workshop initiative bridges the gap between theory and practical application in micro- and nanofabrication. Tailored for both corporate and academic participants, this concierge program offers a unique opportunity to engage with cutting-edge cleanroom technologies and processes in a hands-on environment.

CHIPS Experience Program participants will take a day’s journey through the intricacies of semiconductor or microfluidics fabrication. Our semiconductor track covers essential topics such as lithography, etching, deposition, and metrology, all within a state-of-the-art cleanroom setting at the Singh Center for Nanotechnology Quattrone Nanofabrication Facility. Each participant will work with real silicon wafers, gaining experience in handling and processing these critical components in the manufacturing process. Our microfluidics track participants will learn highly applicable microfluidics process techniques in a fully immersive lab workshop format.
A key feature of the CHIPS program is the ability for participants to customize their learning experience through a range of options, especially for those interested in more advanced applications. These include custom mask creation featuring your organization’s logo or other patterns; advanced techniques like direct lithography using our laser writer or electron beam lithography tools; the application of specialized materials such as gold, silver, and other precious metals; and exploring various etching and deposition methods to further enhance the hands-on experience.
At the conclusion of the program, each participant will take home a wafer (and, if arranged, custom mask) they personally worked on, to commemorate their experience.
